Ally joined the Business Operations team in February 2023. She grew up in Snohomish and earned her B.A. in Environmental Policy from Western Washington University’s College of the Environment. Following internships with Seattle Tilth (Tilth Alliance), the Pike Place Market Preservation & Development Authority, and Common Threads Farm in Bellingham, Ally started her career as a fiscal analyst with the Washington State Department of Children, Youth, and Families. She’s spent the last five years working in the wine industry with both local and international producers. In the fall of 2022 she had the opportunity to fulfill a lifelong dream and work the harvest with Weingut Thorsten Melsheimer, a renowned biodynamic winery in Germany’s Mosel Valley. In her free time she is an avid birder and loves to read and hike.

What do you like about living in the Pacific Northwest?

There are very few places like the Pacific Northwest, where you can go on an awe-inspiring hike in the morning and then make it to the city for a baseball game in the evening. I also love oysters, so living close to amazing shellfish farms is definitely a win!

Why do you work here (at the District)?

I’m so proud to have grown up in Snohomish County, and I love community-based conservation programs. I’m grateful to work with a team of people who are leading these efforts in my community.

Bonus Fact(s)!
