Snohomish Conservation District Holding Spring Elections for Board Supervisor
Looking for a volunteer opportunity to protect the environment and help people in your backyard? Snohomish Conservation District, a local agency that has been active in our community for 75 years, will host an election for a Board Supervisor on March 20th, 2017 from 2 PM to 6 PM at the District office in Lake Stevens. The District works with natural resources industries such as farming and forestry, urban landscapes, stormwater management, sustainable living and gardening, youth education and habitat restoration.
Serving on a board takes commitment and time but the satisfaction in helping protect natural resources and assist local residents, youth, and the farm community is immense. The Conservation District Board meets monthly in Lake Stevens to help set policy and direction. The Board consists of five volunteers, three elected by voters, and two appointed by the Washington State Conservation Commission in Olympia. Each term lasts three years, and one of the three elected positions will be filled in March. Interested candidates must be registered voters who reside within the boundaries of the District (most of Snohomish County and all of Camano Island). The filing deadline is February 17, 2017 at 4PM and candidate forms can be found at the Snohomish Conservation District, 528 91st Ave NE, Ste A, Lake Stevens, WA 98258. Please contact the District to obtain the forms.
The published election procedures can be viewed at the District office and are also available from the Washington State Conservation Commission at http://scc.wa.gov/. Contact Election Supervisor Lois Ruskell at 425-377-7020 for more information.
