Rayne grew up in Ohio before moving to the PNW. She's spent five years working at greenhouses where she learned about plant care and landscaping. Later, she spent two years with Washington Conservation Corp where she began to specialize in native plant care and began working on riparian restoration projects before joining SCD's Community Conservation Crew.

What do you like about living in the Pacific Northwest?

The landscape here is so diverse and beautiful! There's so much to do here and it's all nearby. I love the view of the mountains and the conifer forests. Spending a day hiking in the Cascades is always a joy.

Why do you work here (at the District)?

I really like that the work here feels meaningful. Giving back to the environment is so important and I adore working outside with the Earth. SCD provides a lot of opportunities where I can continue to learn and grow and I am excited to be a part of the team.

Bonus fact!

  • I have a few reptiles and invertebrates, and you can always count on me to point out a weird bug and list off facts about it!
