Christine Stephens | Habitat Restoration Project Manager

Christine is a project manager on SCD’s Habitat Restoration team and manages projects and grants related to riparian restoration and fish passage. Christine has a B.S. in Environmental Resource Management from Penn State with minors in Watershed and Water Resource Management and International Agriculture. Following graduation, Christine served two terms with AmeriCorps in Pennsylvania and Washington with focuses on urban forestry, stewardship, and riparian restoration. Prior to joining the District, Christine worked as a Riparian Restoration Project Manager at Forterra stewarding riparian buffers in King and Snohomish counties. She also spent a summer conducting fish habitat surveys with Cramer Fish Sciences in remote areas of the North Cascades.
What do you like about living in the Pacific Northwest?
I love the diverse landscapes of the PNW from coasts, to mountains, to rainforests, to deserts and everything in between! It provides endless opportunities for trying out new hobbies and learning about new plants.
Why do you work here (at the District)?
I’m excited about how the District works on all aspects of natural resource management and has a comprehensive approach to addressing pressing environmental challenges in our region.

In my free time I like to tend to my garden and forage for wild foods to create delicious treats!
