Monroe Wetland Naming Contest
/The Wetland Preserve off Highway 2 near the airfield needs a name! Here's a chance for local students to put their stamp on Monroe. We are currently seeking submissions from students to name an important ecosystem in Monroe.
By giving this beautiful ecosystem a proper name, we hope it will draw attention to the importance of wetlands in our community.
How do people come up with a name for a place? You could dive into the history of Monroe, have a discussion about the local animals and plants, or a teach a lesson about wetlands or soils.
This contest is open to students in Monroe between the ages of 9 and 14. Submissions can be made on our website no later than April 9, 2019. The name chosen will be officially adopted by the City of Monroe's Parks and Recreation Department. Please share this opportunity with your students!
