Residents Can Garden at Winterhill Apartments

Even though it’s a little cold out, residents at Winterhill Apartments in Marysville are excited to get to work in their newly-installed nine raised garden beds. Community gardens can bring neighborhoods together, connecting young and old alike while allowing families to save money and eat healthier.

SCD is excited to see how this space develops throughout the growing season.

The apartment management is currently surveying their residents on what kind of produce they would be interested in growing and cooking with. Williams Investments Apartments, the owners of the building, are also interested in potentially building more community gardens for its other locations: at least 50 apartment complexes in Snohomish County!

If you own or live in an apartment complex and are interested in building a community garden, please contact jcrumbley@snohomishcd.org for potential resources and educational materials.
