Penny Crispin, after 18 years in nonprofit youth leadership development, is thrilled to join the Snohomish Conservation District to manage the Community Conservation team. As a Camp Director for 15 years, Penny taught adults and youth to respect and appreciate the natural environment and engage responsibly in outdoor activities such as camping, backpacking, and river canoeing. In 2021, Penny decided to pivot into work more directly impacting natural resources and the built environment and attained a Master of Regional Planning degree from Cornell University.


What do you like about living in the Pacific Northwest?

I am brand new to the Pacific Northwest and am looking forward to exploring the area and learning about the outdoor recreation opportunities and local ecology.

Why do you work here (at the District)?

Work at the intersection of natural and human habitats is of great interest to me. There are many and opportunities to integrate nature-based solutions and green infrastructure into our communities and lay the groundwork for more sustainable living.

I'm an insect-enthusiast! I am a contributor to bugguide.net and have four pet Madagascar Hissing Cockroaches - Berta, Jamalia, Walnut, and Jet.
