Our 8th Annual Orca Recovery Day was held on Saturday, October 18. Over 50 volunteers joined us at Puget Sound Public Farms at Ovenell Park in Stanwood to plant 200 native trees and shrubs and remove invasive Evergreen Blackberry.
These efforts support healthy waterways for salmon—Southern Resident orcas’ main food source—by helping filter stormwater before it flows into the Stillaguamish River, ensuring fewer pollutants make it to Puget Sound.
Orca Recovery Day, organized by Puget Sound Conservation Districts, raises awareness for endangered Southern Resident orcas. This year, more than 30 events took place across Puget Sound, including two in Snohomish County.
