Snohomish County Represents at Envirothon

It was an overcast Thursday in mid-March when 14 teams from nine high schools in Snohomish, King, and Skagit counties descended upon the Brightwater Environmental Education and Community Center to compete in the Northwest Regional Envirothon competition. Envirothon is the largest outdoor environmental science competition in the United States and Canada for high school students. Students compete in teams of five in five subject areas: Aquatics, Forestry, Soils, Wildlife, and a current issue topic. This year's current issue topic is "Adapting to a Changing Climate."

We were excited to have Snohomish County represented by Sequoia High School of Everett and Stanwood High School at Regionals.

Sequoia High School came out triumphant and will go on to represent Snohomish County at the Washington State Envirothon Competition in late May at Sound View Camp and Retreat Center on the Key Peninsula in Pierce County.

Well done, Sequoia and Stanwood students!
