Gleaning

Gleaning is the gathering of leftover crops from farmers' fields and donating them to local food banks. Often, these crops can’t be collected by farm equipment, or are too expensive for farms to hire laborers to harvest to send to market. It’s a great experience for volunteers and provides those in need with local, fresh produce.

If you are looking for gleaning opportunities, some of our partner organizations hold gleaning events. Hungry Hearts has volunteers who are able to glean from people's yards for their food bank location.

It’s a wonderful way to get more fresh, organic produce into our community while keeping our farm fields productive and healthy.
