Urban & Community Forests Program
We’re proud to be partnering with the cities of Everett, Marysville, and the Tulalip Tribes for a five-year program to increase tree canopy in urban neighborhoods! This means that if you live within the defined neighborhood boundaries, you can receive free trees to plant near your home or business. Find the application button at the bottom of this page!
Ordering for edible trees is currently open! Complete the Free Tree Interest form to receive a link to the edible tree online shop to request your trees.
SCD Community Conservation Crew members (Left to Right): Peter Slanina, Penny Crispin, David Feldman, Lucia Brucato, Carol Axtelle, Remington Jackson, Haly Rylko
Note: You must be in the neighborhood boundaries in order to qualify for free trees under the Inflation Reduction Act funds through the Forest Service!
If you’d like assistance in selecting the right tree for your yard or project or would like to request a tree over the phone, contact Natalie (360-913-3523) and include the address where the tree will be planted.
How to Request trees...
Step 1: Verify your eligibility
Check your residential or business address to see if your site is within the project boundaries. Under this funding, free trees are available for specific neighborhoods. View our complete map where you can search your address to see if you are eligible for tree trees.
If you don't live within this program's boundaries but are interested in trees, our Annual Plant Sale happens in early March! We also have a list of nurseries that you can purchase plants from.
Step 2: Plan your tree placement
Submit an 811 request to have your underground utilities located for free and refer to this Tree Placement Guide on how to select the right place for trees on your property.
Step 3: Choose your tree species
Decide which trees you’d like to request. View the Urban Trees list and the Edible Trees list.
Step 4: Submit the Free Tree Interest Form
Submit this form when you are ready to order trees. We will send you an email to the order form when your request has been received. Trees will be distributed in Spring 2026. Planting assistance by our crew is available upon request!
Step 5: Use our Tree Care Guide to care for your tree
Check our Tree Care & Planting Guide for tips on how to care for your young tree. If you don’t have room for a tree but would like to be involved, check our Eventbrite page for our community events or sign up here to receive emails about events in your neighborhood.
