Join us at Raising Cane Ranch for an information-packed interactive farm walk about agroforestry. Learn about a diverse array of agroforestry practices, from hedgerows to food forests, silvopasture, and harvestable riparian buffers, and take home a free agroforestry plant! You’ll leave the event knowing how agroforestry practices could improve profitability and environmental conservation goals on your property, especially in areas which are difficult to crop or graze due to excessive waterlogging. Please dress for the weather conditions and bring rain gear and rain boots just in case.
Bonus: You’ll also get a chance to meet Snohomish Conservation District’s new Agroforestry Planner, Whit Barrett! Whit is taking over for Carrie Brausieck who recently moved on to her new role as Executive Director of Agroforestry Northwest. Whit graduated from Cornell University with an M.S. in Soil and Crop Sciences and an M.P.S. in Global Development. Prior to studying at Cornell, they served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Togo where they worked with farmers on agroforestry and cover cropping.
Whit can be reached at wbarrett@snohomishcd.org or 360-618-1028.
Attendees should park in the cider barn parking lot, which is indicated by a sign on the road. Here is a map of the right driveway:
