Tour of Meeker Creek Restoration Project in Puyallup

  • Puyallup, WA United States (map)

We’ll start this event with an introduction to the recently released Puget Sound Urban Tree Canopy and Stormwater Management Handbook, which brought together urban forestry and stormwater professionals to investigate stormwater solutions through urban tree canopies. Each participant will receive a hard copy to take home!

Then we’ll see stormwater solutions in action with a tour of the Meeker Creek restoration project led by Senior Stormwater Engineer, Paul Marrinan.

This project relocated approximately 1,000 linear feet of Meeker Creek from an existing ditch into a natural meandering stream with an adjacent flood plain, wetlands, and riparian habitat. Join us to learn more about this community partnership between the City of Puyallup Water Resource Division and Pierce Conservation District, from project design to on-the-ground success.

Parking: Parking and access will be along 18th Street SW. The access is at the south end of 18th street SW from the cul de sac, where it dead ends into Meeker creek. This is approximately 1000 feet south of the intersection with 8th Ave SW. The nearest residential address to the access point is the listed address at 925 18th St SW Puyallup, WA
