Managing water during the rainy season can benefit you later when our dry northwest summer weather arrives. In this hands-on workshop, one of Seattle Tilth's experts will spend an hour teaching you different techniques to harvest rainwater, efficient tools for watering, when you should water, and how to ensure your soil has its best water-holding capacity. Then at 11 a.m., Snohomish Conservation District will provide all the tools, equipment, and expertise to help you make your own 55-gallon rain barrel to take home for $35*. Not into DIY? You can also purchase a pre-assembled rain barrel for $50* to take home that same day. This is an outdoor hands-on workshop. We'll be under cover, but you should dress for the weather.
UPDATE AS OF SEPT. 16: We are sold out for the do-it-yourself rain barrel building session. There are still a few pre-assembled rain barrels available to purchase for $50 + tax, and there are still spots available for the Smart Watering portion of the workshop.
