Return of the Salmon at Osprey Park

Snohomish Conservation District’s Environmental Educators hosted two tables at the Return of the Salmon Festival at Osprey Park in Sultan on September 24, 2022. The event focused on local watersheds and community action to help preserve and restore our rivers and salmon.

We were excited to have 85 people visit our tables where our educators used water quality testing kits, salmon identification cards, and coloring sheets to teach them about salmon and watershed health. With help from our educators, youth performed water quality tests on a sample from a nearby stream and learned how indicators like pH, dissolved oxygen, and temperature can tell us whether a body of water is healthy salmon habitat.

The families who stopped by our tables were thrilled to conduct these experiments on water from their local watershed and learn how they can contribute to clean streams and healthy salmon populations.

Did you miss us at Return of the Salmon? Our Youth Education Team is hosting activities at two upcoming Snohomish Conservation District events: Orca Recovery Day on October 15 at Strawberry Field Athletic Complex in Marysville and at our Urban Street Tree Planting on October 22 at Senator Henry M. Jackson Park in Everett. We hope to see you there!
