Central Downtown Urban and Community Forests Meeting

  • Marysville School District 4220 80th Street Northeast Marysville, WA, 98270 United States (map)

Snohomish Conservation District is hosting this community event to kick off the new five-year Urban and Community Forests (UCF) Program!

Who's invited? If you live, work, or play in the Central Downtown Neighborhood or any of the other communities included in the program (see map here), or if you love trees and want to be involved in community-led efforts to plant more trees, you're invited! If you're a member of another neighborhood involved in this program, we recommend that you check out our calendar of community events to register for your neighborhood's event, but you are also welcome to attend this meeting to learn about the Urban and Community Forest program.

You are invited to learn about the program and get involved in increasing tree canopy (the amount of ground covered by trees and their branches and leaves when viewed from above) in your neighborhood. At this community meeting, you'll learn about the benefits of trees in your neighborhood, create a vision of your neighborhood with more trees, develop a plan for working toward this vision, and then plan how you'll stay involved, including planting trees in your own yard or in community spaces.

Through this Urban and Community Forest program, Snohomish Conservation District and the City of Marysville aim to increase urban tree canopy to improve human health and climate resiliency. Urban trees provide many benefits, including wildlife habitat, pollution mitigation, improved air quality, increased shade cover, stormwater management, and social and emotional benefits. Snohomish Conservation District is providing free trees to fitting locations, including private residences, businesses, parks, churches, community centers, gardens, and schools. We need YOUR help to find great homes for trees in the Central Downtown neighborhood!
