  • Valley View Middle School 14308 Broadway Ave Snohomish, WA, 98296 United States (map)

**A 3-Day Professional Lab for High School Teachers with Facilitator Peter Donaldson.

The Project Design Lab is open to teams of three high school and middle school teacher leaders passionate about integrating problem-based learning with stormwater systems thinking, Common Core, NGSS, Humanities, and 21st Century Skills. Cross-departmental teams are strongly encouraged to apply together. The Lab is limited to teams of three teacher leaders from each participating school district and sponsoring city: Everett, Monroe, Arlington, and Mill Creek.

LEARN & EARN: Teachers earn 21 Clock Hours plus a stipend of $300. Funding is provided by your local city government with the shared goal of significantly enhancing stormwater systems thinking in the classroom and stewardship action in the community.

IT’S NOT A TRAINING… IT’S A LAB: The Project Design Lab is an opportunity for passionate, collaborative teams of teacher and student leaders to advance their own mastery in meeting standards through problem-based learning. Using primary source material such as stormwater policy frameworks, performance measures, technical reports, current science and engineering, as well as the emerging green infrastructure economy, ensures that learning about real work, doing real work and meeting standards becomes the foundation for Educating for Sustainability.

APPLICATION NARRATIVE FOR TEACHER LEADERS: 1. Write a personal narrative (2-3 paragraphs in an email) outlining what you teach, where you teach, and how the Project Design Lab on Stormwater Pollution Solutions will: a. serve your professional learning goals; b. advance the broader goals expressed in your school improvement plan, and; c. support momentum in your school district for educating for sustainability through the lens of Stormwater Pollution Solutions. 2. Include a statement from your Principal about how he or she supports your role as a representative for the faculty and specifically how what you learn in the Lab will be conveyed to all members of school community over the next school year. 3.
