Brett joined our team of Farm Planners with real life, local experience - being raised on the de Vries family farm in the Snoqualmie Valley. He is a third generation farmer; his family has been producing beef cattle and hay in the valley since 1921. He still rustles calves, works the fields, and mends fences. He knows what it takes and he is well aware of the challenges farmers are faced with.

Brett graduated from Pacific Lutheran University with a degree in Recreation. He also has a background in construction management and served the Riverview School District as a substitute teacher and coach. He serves on the advisory board for the Cedarcrest High School's Future Farmers of America.

What do you like about living in the Pacific Northwest?

I enjoy living in the pacific northwest because of all the remarkable views.

Why do you work here (at the District)?

I enjoy working with folks in my county to help improve things for their farming goals and objectives and also being stewards of the land.

Bonus fact!

  • I think cows are much smarter than people give them credit for.
